WOOOOOOW

Jeremy and I went on a RAINY day date today to finally see this movie.  We have been trying to see it since it came out and it never worked out.  I am so glad we finally saw it.  It is a “buyer” <—-that’s what we call movies that are so good, they are worth buying.

I was so impressed by this movie.  It was an unexpected dark comedy that was edgy, hilarious, intense and brilliant.  WOW.  Bradley Cooper is not just a pretty face.  He is so talented and plays this role superbly.

After the movie we browsed through Barnes & Noble to see if I could find a new planner and not only did I find one but also this little gem!

photo(3)

It’s not some cheesy book on how to become a personal trainer. It gives reviews of all the different programs, avoiding common mistakes, gives sample questions from the different exams and loads of other information.  As I was flipping through the book I stopped at a page and what it read ultimately caused me to buy the book.

photo(6)

“The trainer must understand the importance of the client’s personal journey – mental, emotional, and spiritual”

Oh my goodness!  That’s like my entire philosophy on health!  I had never heard of ISSA before today.  I was going to go the common NASM route but now I am thinking I will try a different program.  It was serendipitous.

Even if I can’t actually take the course right now, I can at least learn about it and get prepped mentally.

****

Thankfully  I am on the last day of Dr. Oz’s cleanse!  I am so glad because while I am feeling much better and am back to craving apples instead of candy and chips….I am SURE ready for some solid food!  I made a delicious crock pot chicken dish this week that was heavenly…..I did have a taste of it…..you know to make sure it was edible for THEM Winking smile But I will for sure be making it again soon (and posting the recipe) so that I can enjoy it as well!

T’was a week before Christmas

and I am up to my ears in all things Christmas.  I wouldn’t change a thing but, it is SO important that I don’t get so caught up in the doing that I forget the whying….What?  I don’t know….Confused smile

Anyway, I thought I would try to check in quickly….to catch up.  I should be wrapping presents. That was on my “to-do” list today and I haven’t gotten to it yet.  I’ve reached that point where I still have so much I didn’t get done today that I have decided to just give up and blog instead. I’ll try again tomorrow!   We’ll see how “quick” I can actually make this!!

So…..where do I start?

Tuesday

Tuesday was Luke’s first Orchestra concert.  I was so proud.  I mean, let’s be honest, they are 11 year olds who have been playing for 3 months. I was prepared to have my ears bleed.  But NO!  They were fantastic!!!  The 6th graders played Canon in D which is my all time favorite song probably EVER.  I was sold.  It made me want to go to a big time show.  I am trying to get Jer to buy tickets to the Dallas Symphony for us….like every show.  Isn’t that season tickets or something?  Yes please!

Aidan and The Giant Nutcracker.  He is obsessed with them.  Every time we see one it’s the same thing.  “Mommy!  A Nutcracker! LOOK!”  Plays with the handle, sticks his fingers in the mouth, pretends its eating him, laughs hysterically…..

DSC00627

After the concert we stopped at CFA for dinner.

Oh no, they don’t belong to each other AT ALL!

Wednesday

Wednesday was our Date Day.  We finished up our Christmas shopping FINALLY! I don’t know how families with more than two children do it. Much respect. We had planned on going to see Silver Linings (Bradley Cooper? Yes please!) but the only showing was at 1:50 so that was a no-go.  We also ended up looking for a new desk….. for the office I will have eventually have…… in our new house…..when ever we actually sell our house!  Don’t get me started on that…..it will happen….it will happen….it will happen……Annoyed

Lets change the subject and look at some cute things….

This little brat is too much.

He hates that cat…..but she sure does love him!

I was feeling a little sassy on my Date Day so I wore my “Sassy Pants”.  I rarely wear these.  I have to be in just the right mood to pull them off.

We ate lunch at Corner Bakery again and I got my special Starbucks treat.  Perfect Day with my love.

Thursday

I don’t remember Thursday…..is that bad or what?

Friday

Ugh, Friday….not a good day.  I woke up feeling absolutely terrible with a number of unrelated ailments that kept me in bed all day.  The only thing good about days like that are being able to catch up on some reading and Dr. Oz.  I was also glued to Fox News with tissues.  I was going to post that day but felt it was highly irrelevant.  I don’t even have words to describe how heartbroken I was.  I couldn’t keep my mind from going to those dark places that only a parent knows about.  It was all I could do to not walk….no run over to the school and get my kids.  I cried as I saw them walking up the steps and hugged them in a way I have never hugged them before.  There are so many opinions out there that I agree & disagree with to an extent.  But all I am going to say is God help us all.

photo 4 (2)

This was Friday night.  If it weren’t for Jeremy saying nay, I would have had a slumber party with two little precious babies.  I didn’t want them even a foot from me.

*********

Saturday

I woke up Saturday morning with such a heavy HEAVY heart.  I was reminded of how I felt after 9-11.  I felt this vague sense of guilt as though I had an obligation to mourn with those who lost their children.  An obligation to watch the news for hours on end. To cry until I had no tears left.  But after reading a post by someone who I can’t remember now, I realized that I absolutely can not do that.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you.  I do not give as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

“For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7

I was reminded to lift those who mourn up to God in prayer, pray constantly for all those involved and to live my precious life not in mourning or in fear, but in love and in power and in self control.  We never ever know when will be our last moments here in this earth.

*******

After all that deep spiritual stuff,  I had some power shopping to do…..grocery shopping that is.  Am I the only who has a love hate relationship with grocery shopping?  I love a full pantry and fridge, but I hate actually going to get the stuff.

After grocery shopping pretty much all day,  I prepped some food for Jeremy to take to work this week.  Since he is gone for 15 hours a day, he has to pack a snack, lunch, snack and more snacks….actually they are small meals for most people.  He can stop drinking cokes and lose weight.  I have to basically eat spinach all day in order to lose .5 lb. Yes, I might hate him a little for that.  Anyway…..I was buying him frozen meals like Healthy Choice or Lean Cuisines….but it killed me inside a little each week to do that.  The man needs food, like real food, like a lot of food.  But he is also health conscience.  Therein lies the conundrum.  Healthy food with a lot of good fats and calories…..He is also on board with me to nix the sugar and excess carbs in our diet.  So during lunch on our Date Day we brainstormed and came up with the most obvious solution.  I couldn’t believe I hadn’t thought of this before! I would make him homemade Lean Cuisines!!!!  I decided I would make a one dish each Saturday just for him to take for his lunches the next week.  When I make dinner for the family, we eat the leftovers until they are gone in order to stretch our grocery budget out.  So there are no leftovers for him to take to work.  I am thinking casseroles, a batch of veggies, brown rice, fish, chicken, turkey burgers ect.  Something that will make 3-4 servings.

This week I baked some fish with lemon pepper seasoning, roasted some frozen veggies and cooked up a batch of brown rice.

photo 4

I packed them in some containers.  3 for the 3 days he works this week.

photo 5

And stacked them in the fridge for easy access and visibility at 5am.

photo 1 (2)

I felt 100% better about his fuel for the week.

I also made some “Quick Energy Bites” for him to replace his Clif Bars.

photo 2 (2)

There are several variations of these all over the internet. I’ll post the one I use with my variations sometime this week!

Sunday

So that brings us to today…..finally.  I woke up feeling pretty terrible with those same “ailments” as Friday.  I was feeling better on Saturday but they came back today.  I was scheduled to serve in the nursery this morning at church but I just couldn’t get myself together, let alone two children and the house picked up in case of a last minute showing.  So I had to call in.  I was so sad.  I SO look forward to my “baby fix” each week.  As the morning went on I started to feel better and got out and about this afternoon while The Boys were at a birthday party.  I went to the library in search for a particular book I have been wanting to read.  Couldn’t find it there so I went to Garden Ridge (I saw it there once) Target, Barnes & Noble, then Walmart.  I must REALLY want this book if I (person who would rather go to the dentist than be in a crowd of people) braved the mall 11 days before Christmas.  I couldn’t get in OR out of there!  Parking was MAD!  But….after all that, sadly I still can’t find my book.  Fortunately my mother-in-law has it!  Too bad she lives 300 miles away!  She is bringing it to me on Friday when they come for Christmas!

************

Well, that took much longer than thought…..so alas I must bid you adieu….Hopefully it won’t be another week before I post again!

Date Day!

Can we just talk about this dog for a second?  She (an Airedale) was outside with the Salvation Army volunteers today.  So ADORBS!

photo 1 (2)

Today’s breakfast was just oats.  I am out of eggs.  Sad day.  So I made a bigger bowl of oats.

  • 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 tbsp. chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp. natural peanut butter
  • cinnamon

photo 1

Unfortunately this didn’t hold me over very long and I had an apple 2 hours later.

Today was Date Day with my Hubbers.

I was so excited it wasn’t windy today and I could wear my hair down!

My handsome other half

photo 3 (2)

and I first stopped for lunch at Corner Bakery.

photo 5

We both got my usual Spinach Sweet Crisp Salad with Tomato Basil Soup.  I was very proud of the both of us for skipping the croutons in our soup & the focaccia bread.  I was extremely proud of Jer for ordering water instead of a Dr. Pepper.  Never mind the 2 donuts and 3 donut holes he ate this morning with the boys.  Hey….it’s an improvement and that’s all I can ask!  I was very impressed with myself for picking off as much of the sweet crisp that comes on the salad as I could.  VICTORY!

We did a little Christmas shopping and then I got my special Starbucks treat on the way home.  I am down to just ONE Splenda in a Grande!  Before I would add 3!  YIKES!

photo 5 (2)

Jeremy is currently trying to fix our leaky kitchen faucet.  There hasn’t been one thing that man hasn’t been able to fix in this house, but……it never fails that he runs into some sort of pickle in the process.  Right now he is on trip number two to Home Depot!  I sure do hope I have running water in my kitchen sink tonight!  I am sort of hesitant to start dinner without a functioning sink!

I guess it’s about time

that I finally post something!  It’s been a full summer thus far but I think it will be slowing down here in the next week or so.  Luke is going to be going to his dad’s for the month of July beginning Friday so it will be just me and Little A most of the time after that.

Last week the boys went to stay with Jeremy’s parents for the week.  On Monday we met at Chili’s, had lunch (I got a cup of the Chicken Enchilada Soup, so YUM) and then we drove back to Dallas…..alone.  It was so quiet that it was just plain weird.

We had planned to get some things done Monday afternoon when we got back into town but I was so tired by the end of the drive and had a headache from reading in the car.  All I wanted to do was lay down.  So I DID!  It was glorious!

Tuesday

Tuesday we got to go somewhere that I had been wanting to go for a really long time.  The last time I went to the Allen Outlets was a few years ago and I only got to go into one store.  Jeremy and I made a day of it and got there first thing!  We shopped around a while, finding nothing and getting hungry so over lunch I devised a plan of attack!

I circled and labeled all the stores I really wanted to go to and when we got back we started on one side and worked our way to the other.

photo 2

FINALLY,  I found the first of many purchases at Kenneth Cole.  I love the tagline on their shopping bag….Everyone Needs an Outlet.  Yes, and shopping is one of mine!  Thank goodness for Jeremy’s sake I am a bargain shopper.

photo 5

photo 3 (2)

I couldn’t believe I found these, they look almost exactly like my ones from Target!  These are better because my Target ones don’t have the braid over the ankle and my heel slips off the back when I walk.  These feel much better made although I have a blister on my big toe now.  It’s ok…they are cute enough to endure the pain!  Winking smile

We had lunch at Mimi’s Café.

Tomato Basil Soup & Fresh Turkey Sandwich

photo 3

photo 4

Would you like some turkey and bread with your lettuce?

I asked for no tomato and mustard instead of mayo….I guess they heard no tomato sub lettuce, no mayo sub lettuce.  Either way it was really good!  I ate half the soup and half the sandwich and it was a perfect portion for me.  I hate the huge portion sizes they serve at restaurants.  It’s so hard to leave half on my plate even though I KNOW that even just half is usually too much.  I think every time…..such a waste, there are people starving.

Wednesday

Reality of Love

I think the original name was “I Want to Marry Ryan Banks” but I guess they changed it at some point.  Good move, I want to marry Ryan Banks is cheese.

Reality of Love

I LOVED this movie!  I love it so much I want to buy it!  It was adorable and honestly, who doesn’t love Bradley Cooper?  If you don’t, you should see someone.  I want to watch it again.

Thursday

We went to breakfast at La Madeline.

I ordered the Breakfast Sampler.

photo 2 (2)

Fruit Salade (no, I didn’t misspell), Mini Chocolate Croissant, Oatmeal with brown sugar and toasted almonds

This was REALLY good.  I ate half the oatmeal,  half the croissant and all of the fruit.  It was perfect and filling.

Then we caught the matinee of Snow White and the Huntsman.

220px-Snow_White_and_the_Huntsman_Poster

Love, love, loved.  It was freakin loooooong but I had no clue.  This says a lot because I have the attention span of a 5 yr. old.  I think Kristen Stewart did a great job.  Clearly she has had some acting lessons since her Twilight days.  Charlize stole the show for me though.  Evil Queen indeed!

photo 4 (2)

I had on a cute top under this jacket….but since I get cold if its 85 degrees and there is a breeze, I turned into a fashion DON’T before our movie.  Good thing we were in a dark theater.

We decided on lunch at the Chick-Fil-A in the mall.  It was 2 pm and I was getting hangry.  So I figured it would be a good idea to get something quick.

photo 5 (2)

We found a sunny spot to thaw out under and enjoyed lunch.  I got my usual side salad with fat free honey mustard.  I added all the sunflower seeds and croutons.  This time I decided to add my fruit cup on top instead of eating it separately.  I didn’t like it as much…I don’t like the honey mustard on my fruit.  I think I will do this next time but change my dressing to the vinaigrette.

…and then this happened

photo 1 (2)

Jeremy made me do it…..but really, it was inevitable.

I didn’t eat it ALL…..just about 3/4!  It was REALLY good, but as expected not as life changing as I had imagined.  I could totally make this at home and in fact, have made something like this before with plain M&M’s, granola, raisins, and some sort of cereal.

That night I got to watch the week’s episode of Dallas!!!  I am so excited to have a new show to watch!!!  I never really get attached to a series because I never have time to watch them.  But this is appointment television for me!  Scandalous!  I vaguely remember the show from when I was little, but I want to buy the original series and watch all of them!!!

Friday

I can’t really remember what we did Friday, but I DO remember dinner!

photo(8)

Crunchy Onion Barbecue Chicken w/ Alexia Chipotle Sweet Potato Fries.

I can’t even begin to tell you how good this was.  I have yet a THIRD go-to recipe from my new cookbook!

Friday evening we watched this movie.

In Time

In Time

Great storyline, just waaaaaaay toooooo long.  I fell asleep but was rudely awoken several times by sounds of gunshots. Thumbs down  I’d recommend it, just know it’s really long.

I just remembered what I did Friday. Confused smile DUH!  Jeremy worked his extra job so I had the day to myself!  I slept in late, cleaned the house a little and then went to exchange some things from Ulta & Target.  By Friday I was REALLY missing the boys.  I was honestly sort of depressed.  It’s funny because when I said goodbye to them on Monday, I thought….gee I am not sure 5 days will be long enough.  Clearly….. I needed a break.  By Thursday I was getting pretty bummed and by Friday I was just depressed.  I really missed my little boys.  It was so incredibly quiet Friday morning.  The energy they give off is tangible.

Saturday

Finally FINALLY it was time to go get them!  The drive there seemed endless.  We met again in Abilene and ate lunch a Chili’s.  I had the chicken enchilada soup again!  So YUM!!!!

photo(9)

The best mom/mimi in the world and her boys!

I am so glad they are back.  We all slept late this morning and had a great day today!  Fussing, complaining, fighting and all!  It was music to my ears. Tomorrow is back to reality and a regular schedule.  I hope the treadmill doesn’t kill me after a week of ignoring it!

Last Date Day

Aidan’s last day of school was yesterday and it was our last “Date Day”.  The boys will be going to spend a week with Mimi and Papa over the summer so we WILL get to have another date or two over the summer, but besides that…this was it until Aidan starts K in the fall.  Then we will have tons of them!  It’s so crazy to me that we are finally moving into the next phase of our lives.  I was changing out some of the pictures in our frames last night and found one of Luke at age 5.  Then I put Aidan’s 5 year picture next to it and thought….Wow, where has the time gone?  Cliché, I know, but it’s the truth.  Seems like yesterday……It’s so bitter sweet.  I am happy, relieved, hopeful, excited about the future.  Being able to finally do some of the things I have only dreamt about being able to do over the past 10 years, having sense of freedom.  But at the same time, I am sad that my baby boys are growing up so fast.  It makes me want to savor every moment and sad that life is so busy and hectic that I can’t.  I just pray I am not missing valuable opportunities to teach them, love them and nurture them.  I pray that I am not making mistakes I will regret later.  I pray that they will grow up knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that I love them more than anything and that our house and our family is their sanctuary in this messed up world.

Ready for our date!

  • Sandals: Target
  • Watch: Fossil
  • Bracelets: Charming Charlie

Our first stop was to Sephora.  I finally picked a new fragrance after trying the ones in the Sephora Fragrance Sampler that Jeremy got for me a few weeks ago.

photo 2 (2)

 Michael Kors Gold

“This fragrance brings together iconic yet complementary scents to create the perfect accessory. Exquisitely alluring notes of magnolia and freesia blend with delicate violet flowers to cast a brilliant sparkle that commands attention. The headiness of tuberose and the peppery hint within peony meld together for a sensational presence at the fragrance’s heart. The finishing glow of ambergris drapes you in a sexy aura of gorgeous, glimmering gold.” – description of the scent on Sephora.

Who writes these?  I love it!

Then it was time for our movie.

The Avengers

via

I wish I was like everyone else and could say this movie was the best movie ever made, but for me it was not.  Let me just say first that I really like super hero movies.  I love the witty humor. I love the heroism. And of course there is usually a love story.  My favorite super hero is Iron Man.  Robert Downy Jr. is just adorable.  I loved the first part of this movie, but by hour 2, I was bored.  All I could think about was how much longer would this be going on and what I wanted to eat for lunch.  It was so freaking loud and the violence was just way over the top for me.  I was getting a headache.  I know….what did I expect?  I just have a short attention span and anything longer than two hours is just too much.  Over all it was a good movie, just (IMO) did not live up to the hype.  Definitely a guy movie.  My favorite part was when Hulk smashed Loki like a rag doll.  I couldn’t stop laughing.  There have been a few people I wish I could have done that to.  Smile  KIDDING!!! not really.

So all I could think about during the last part of the movie was this salad. Actually, not this salad but THIS salad.  The Chick-Fil-A in our mall didn’t have it so I settled on the regular one.  I should have ordered a fruit cup and put it on top.  Definitely next time!

photo 4

Chick Fil A Chargrilled Chicken Salad

I added the sunflower seed and crouton packets and used fat-free honey mustard.

and then this happened…..

Small Snickers Blast from Sonic

I am not sure what got into me.  I don’t think I have had something like this in….well, ever.  I think I was wanting a Blizzard from Dairy Queen but we don’t have one around here.  I had been craving one since Sunday and suggested….(during the movie) we take Aidan to get a milkshake to celebrate his last day of school.  What was up with that too?  I never “celebrate” with food.  At least I try not to SAY we are, even if we are.  Sadly, this wasn’t even that great, but you better believe I ate all of it and had a stomachache afterwards.  At least I got THAT out of my system!

I spent the remainder of the day chillin out on the couch or just putzin around the house.  Jeremy and I stayed up too late and since I was still full (and nauseous) from the Sonic treat, I had skipped dinner.  Of course by 10pm I was starving.  First I had an apple.  That just made me hungrier.  Then I had an Annie’s PB&J granola bar & finally had a bowl of cereal.  Not exactly the best things to be eating right before bed but it’s whatever.

We don’t have any plans today besides going to the gym this morning.  I do need to catch up on some housework and about billion other things.  Hopefully I will be able to get all those things done for my sanity!

I stumbled upon this article yesterday while I was in my sugar coma on the couch from the Sonic Blast

Best Health and Fitness Apps – Greatist

I downloaded Stress Check, Epicurious, ShopWell and Fooducate.  Then I scanned almost all of my food items obsessively.  Thankfully they all came up with good scores!

I hope everyone has a BEAUTIFUL Friday!!!

An “Ordinary Day” Date

I felt it was a good idea to go to the grocery store yesterday with a little snack in my belly. Otherwise, I’m sure the M&M trail mix and Popchips would have ended up in my basket, a definite NO NO in this house. Because Mommy has food issues….my poor children. I hope to God that I am teaching them good eating habits and not dooming them to a life of healthy food rebellion.

My “snack” was in reality an early dinner because I was really hungry at the time and I also knew I would be gone for a while. Well past dinner time. A little 150 calorie snack was not going to keep me satisfied for the long haul.

photo 1

Dannon fat-free yogurt (I can’t find traditional anymore Thumbs down), 7 Blue Diamond natural almonds, 1/4 cup Honey Bunches of Oats, & 1 piece of cinnamon swirl protein bread.

When I got home from grocery shopping I was a little hungry so I toasted 1/2 a Thomas Whole Wheat Bagel Thin with 1 tbsp. Sunbutter. I also had a few handfuls of Great Grains Cereal in Banana Nut Crunch (just purchased from the store & I think may be my new favorite, just have to try to practice portion control) and ~ 10 peanuts.

Today’s Breakfast

I was SUPER hungry this morning. Earlier than normal too.

photo 2 (2)

1/2 Thomas Whole Wheat Bagel Thin, 1 tbsp. Sunbutter, 1/2 large banana, sprinkle of cinnamon & Chobani 2% Strawberry Banana Greek Yogurt.

Thursday is our “Date Day”. We usually do something out of the ordinary but today we just enjoyed a normal day…..WITHOUT kids. Which is a “date” in itself. It was so nice to have a conversation with with no interruptions. A lot of time we just give up talking to each other because we can’t even finish a sentence. That’s why “Date Day” is so sacred to us! Next week is Aidan’s last week of school so we have just one more date left before the summer. Next year he will start Kindergarten which means we will have several opportunities to date. Looking way forward to that! Times they are a changin!

For our “date” today we went to the gym and I had yet ANOTHER fantastic workout. I really felt like I could have ran some more when I got home. I even suggested to Jeremy that we do Jillian (TWSS) but quickly dismissed that idea! I ran on the treadmill for 30 min, topping out at 6.0 mph again! (YAY!) and then did a version of my at-home upper body workout. I did the shoulder workout, 3 sets of 15 bicep curls w/ 8lb free weights then 3 sets of 25 bench dips.

Lunch

So yummy again!

Apple, orange, leftover broccoli from yesterday, turkey and reduced fat Swiss cheese on a La Tortilla Factory Smart & Delicious Soft Wrap pressed in my Panini Maker.

I love these, they are so yummy. They have mild sweet and nutty taste that really complimented the turkey cheese combination.

I am finding myself having a daily Spark instead of a weekly Spark. It is making all the difference in my energy levels through the afternoon. Today my Spark lady gave me a sample of the pink lemonade. It was ok, but the mandarin orange is my favorite of them all.

Have a lovely evening my friends!

I am Zen

multitasking-momvia

How many of you can identify with this?  I know I can.

Sometimes life gets a little crazy and sometimes you just need to unplug and decompress.  I think it is essential, especially for mothers and wives, to do this.  We spend so much time   …..most  of our time…..ok pretty much every waking moment taking care of everyone else, we forget we need to be taken care of too.  Our spirits need to be filled, our bodies need rest and relaxation, and our minds need to be turned off.

So for two days I did just that.  It was LOVELY & I feel 1000% better.

I worked-out Wednesday morning on the treadmill and then did some abs and stretching.

photo(19)

I finally started Catching Fire Wednesday afternoon.

photo 4 (2)

I ironed.  This is relaxing for me…I never have time make time for ironing and it stresses me out.  I have many summer clothes that I can’t wear unless I iron them…so I am stuck with wash and wear stuff over and over.  It makes me sad when I go into my closet and see so much potential for cute outfits but I can’t wear any of it because I lack ironing discipline. So I ironed for two hours on Wednesday night and watched about 5 DVR’d  Joyce Meyer shows.  I record these but never get to actually sit and watch them.

It was heavenly Winking smile

I also listened to about 5 or 6 of her podcasts while getting ready for my date with Prince Charming on Thursday.

I got pretty for my Prince.

  • Shirt: Polo (It’s a youth size that I found at a children’s consignment shop when I was selling Aidan’s clothes to them)  I love it.  I rarely wear it though. Why?  Ironing.

  • Shoes: TOMS
  • Accessories: Watch- Fossil, Bracelets- Coach and a gift from a friend.

We had our Starbucks and then walked around the mall.  He wanted to take me ice skating because I keep saying like every week…..I want to go ice skating!  But wouldn’t you know, this would be the week I wouldn’t feel up to it!

So instead we had a long….looooooooong heart to heart and ate copious amounts of chocolate.

This is brilliant.  You buy the box of 10 of their favorite fragrance samples.  Wear them, test them out, decide which one you like & return the gift voucher in the box for a full size bottle.  When we got home I had all 3 boys sitting on the bed with me smelling perfumes and getting their opinion.  It was adorable.  Today I am wearing the one we all liked the best, Marc Jacobs Oh, Lola.  It smells really lovely at first, but then the scent fades quickly.  Perfect example of why it’s good try it out first.

We picked up little A from school and went to get Jeremy’s hair cut and more sweets.  Copious I said.

Later that afternoon I got the grocery shopping done.

Truth

By Thursday night I was Zen.

******************************

I slept like a rock last night, probably because I had another case of insomnia Wednesday night.  I found myself asleep sitting up in bed after trying to read just one chapter of Catching Fire.

Breakfast

My new favorite.

photo 2 (4)

.Chobani 2% Greek Yogurt, 1/2 an Orowheat Sandwich Thin, 1 tbsp. Sunbutter, 1/2 small banana and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Workout

I did 30 minutes on the treadmill and 20 on the elliptical.  It felt really good and I got super sweaty.  I downloaded some new music from Itunes and I am pretty sure that had everything to do with it.  Music is essential for cardio.  It’s a non-negotiable for me.  These people who work out with no music are bionic or something.

  • Titanium (feat. Sia) – David Guetta & Sia
  • Give Your Heart a Break – Demi Lovato
  • Back in Time – Pitbull
  • Wild Ones (feat. Sia) – Flo Rida
  • Boyfriend – Justin Bieber (don’t judge me)
  • Call Me Maybe – Carly Rae Jepsen

I am looking FORWARD to my sweat session tomorrow!

Lunch

A Granny Smith Apple the size of my face and a Cara Cara orange.

A little later, I had a serving of Blue Diamond natural almonds and the other half of the small banana from this morning.

I wasn’t hungry really at dinner time and now it’s after 9pm and wouldn’t you know my tummy us rumbling!  I am about to have 1/2 a Sandwich Thin with some PB.

I have not nor do I plan on reading the naughty little novel that is taking the women of this country by storm, but I thought this was hilarious!

Date Day!

Yesterday afternoon I made two batches of Cinnamon Swirl Protein Bread & then proceeded to have two pieces at 4pm & two more at 6pm right before I left to go grocery shopping (instead of church, I am terrible.)

Then at 8pm I ate “my dinner” on the way back from the grocery store.

Dress: TJ Maxx (Be Bop, last year)

Accessories: Charming Charlie

Shoes: Target (this season)

Watch: Fossil

I must say that I think Spring and Summer are a much prettier season for dressing!  In the winter, the only thing I am concerned about is how many layers I am going to need.

First, we stopped by Ulta to sniff out some new perfumes, get some special lotion for Luke’s skin issues and pick up my free gift for spending too much money being such a loyal customer.

Then we “stopped in real quick” at Old Navy and I ended up buying a dress, a pair of shorts and two tops.  Oooopsie!  In all seriousness, I DO need new clothes, on the REAL.  I am honestly still catching up from having to get rid of pretty much every last item of clothing I used to own.  Even the ones I got mid-weight loss are now too big.  I can’t ‘”make them work” anymore.  Good problem to have I suppose. Winking smile

Our last stops were Barnes & Noble for book # 2 in a series Luke is reading and Jason’s Deli for Lunch.

This REALLY hit the spot!

My salad had baby greens, peas, broccoli, cucumbers, baby carrots, trail mix, 1 crouton Winking smile, granola, a spicy nut mix and fat free honey mustard.  Good gracious I love me some kitchen sink salads!  On the side was some sort of rice dish that I didn’t care for.  Hummus, crackers, a ginger bread muffin and a cornbread muffin.  I ate all of the salad plate, the crackers with some of the hummus, & a bite of each muffin.  I also had a scoop of banana and chocolate pudding from the salad bar.  The best part of the meal was the frozen yogurt cone they offer at the end of the meal.  Deeeeelish!

In my own personal Heaven! I want to go back right now for dinner!

Speaking of, I need to get that started!

Pinkberry <3

photo 2

Sweet Sweet pinkberry, we meet again.

Salted Caramel, brownie bites, toasted almonds and cinnamon streusel.

I find it somewhat sad that this was the best part of my day yesterday.  Sad, or it shows just how fantastically terrifically amazing this stuff is.  I am reminded of that episode of Seinfeld…..

Yesterday was a super relaxing day.  The closest thing I got to exercise was walking around the Container Store for an hour and half  Winking smile.   I had hoped to do some yoga but trying to do yoga in a house full of boys is counter productive.  So I settled on falling asleep on Luke’s bed for an hour.  What?…..the point was to relax… I did also put away all my goodies from the Container Store.  Well, all my stuff IN or ON the goodies I got from the Container Store.  I never knew a Lazy Susan could give me so much peace.

My breakfast was oats, of course, lunch was pinkberry, snack was an apple, orange, and two pieces of protein bread.  Something about pinkberry I have noticed is that I am not hungry after I have eaten it.  I am not sure why, but it seems different than the other fro-yos I have had.  With all the others I am hungry 30 min later.  It does seem much creamier and more rich so it quite possibly could have everything to do with the quality of ingredients they use.  I don’t know?  Something to ponder.

Dinner

Turkey and reduced-fat Provolone Panini on a Thomas Whole Wheat Bagel Thin.

Baby carrots, fruit bowl w/ half a sliced banana, 1/2 cup blueberries, 1/2 cup grapes, 1/2 cup pineapple.

After dinner I had a piece of protein bread for “dessert”.

I am so glad that my energy level is returning and my appetite is settling down.  I found it funny that AFTER my week with Mrs. Murphy, I stumbled upon these articles.  I suppose the information will be helpful next time.  I just hope I can remember to read them over again.

Getting Ready For Some Guests!

We spent yesterday getting ready for some special guests today!  My In-Loves!!!!  I hate to call them “In-Law’s” because it has such a negative connotation. So I call them my in-loves!  They are coming in town for Aidan’s LAST soccer game tomorrow.

Yesterday we got the house spic & span, house-guest ready and also went to the grocery store for some last minute items.  I am planning on making the delicious Chicken Tortilla Crock Pot Soup I made a few weeks ago, for dinner tonight.  I hope they like it!  After grocery shopping we stopped by Schlotzsky’s for lunch.

I chose the pick two with half a smoked turkey sandwich & the

Cranberry, Apple, Pecan & Chicken Salad

“Fresh mixed field greens, goat cheese, pecans, dried cranberries, apple wedges, red onion, garlic focaccia croutons and grilled chicken strips. Served with a side of hot flat bread and dressing of your choice.” –Schlotzsky’s website

It was a good thing I was super hungry because this was a lot more than I had hoped for!  I ate half of the half sandwich and all of the salad.  It was delicious! I shared the flat bread with Jeremy, but I wish I hadn’t because it was tasty too!

Later that afternoon, Aidan and I shared some jelly beans (so much for that detox) on the couch while watching cartoons. My lack of sleep from the night before kicked in and I fell asleep for about and hour.  Interesting fact: I saw on Dr. Oz that you should nap between 1pm & 4pm but for only 30 min if you want a pick-me-up.  Any longer and your brain will be in too relaxed of a state. You will wake up feeling more tired than when you laid down for the nap in the first place!  Indeed!  I woke up feeling super drowsy and drunk. Thumbs down

Completely packaged and ready in 20 minutes!

I have never cooked fish before and have no interest in doing so at this point.  I was really happy to see that all I had to do was put these packages in a baking dish for 20 min.

photo 5

Birdseye Steamed Asparagus, 1/2 cup Uncle Ben’s Long Grain & Wild Rice, 1/2 a Van de Kamp’s Parchment Bake fillet.

There were only two fillets in the box so Aidan and I shared.  Wow.  We ALL loved it.  I was so impressed.  I am not a huge fish fan but am really trying to be.  I am so glad I stumbled upon this!  Thumbs upThumbs up This would make a great lunch too!

The asparagus didn’t turn out well.  I just can’t seem to get the hang of it.  I thought I couldn’t fail with the steamer bag but I did.  Confused smile

Take 2

photo(14)

I steamed up some broccoli and had another 1/2 cup of rice.

Dinner preparation was full of small mishaps.  I destroyed the asparagus.  The Uncle Ben’s rice bag exploded in the microwave, sending brown rice all over the inside of the microwave.  I bit into a piece of broccoli and immediately spit it out onto my plate like I was raised by heathens.  It was still frozen!  Jeremy had taken the carousel from the microwave out to wash, so I think the broccoli didn’t cook evenly.  Only about half of it was hot enough to eat.  Thumbs down  Needless to say I didn’t get enough to eat at dinner and found myself hungry a few hours later.

I had some of “the boys’” cereal.

Cascadian Farms Cinnamon Crunch.

This was a perfect bedtime snack, sweet, low calorie and filling.

On the agenda for today: Workout, get crock pot meal together,  & spend some good quality time with my loved ones.

I hope everyone has a terrific weekend!!!
